How to Set-Up Your Profile
The
Profile page is where you can change personal profile information and
account preferences as they relate to the discussion forum. The page is
organized into 6 categories we'll explain, as well as the options
provided. To navigate to the Profile page, click profile in the forums
top navigation bar, and then click Profile. Once your Profile has
opened you should be on the Summary Tab, in this tab on the top right
side click on Edit profile.
Avatar TabThe
avatar options allow you to set an image for your forum account.
Avatars will appear on your main profile page, as well as the
mini-profile attached to the message board posts you make. Image sizes
are measured in pixels and are limited to 100x100 pixels. No Nudity /
Curse words or anything inappropriate will not be accepted please read
the rules and regulations.
You will see there are 5 different options to choose from to create your avatar.
Option 1: Use only your ProBoards Avatar – Which you can design.
Option 2: Use only the uploaded/linked – Which you can upload from your computer or with an image hosting
service (Flickr, Photobucket, etc) using the direct link or direct URL.
Option 3: Combine them, use the Uploaded/Linked as a background for your ProBoards Avatar – You can upload a picture of the beach, a Chop Shop, a race track, etc. and put your Proboards avatar on top of it.
Option 4: Use a Forum Avatar – There is a variety of forum Avatars you can choose from.
Option 5: No Avatar – This will provide you with the forum default Avatar.
After you have successfully created your avatar click on SAVE AVATAR CHANGES.
Personal TabIn
this section, you can modify personal details if you wish. Options
range from Display name, gender, location and even include an area to
add a link to a personal website. You can also update your signature, or
add personal notes.
Change Display Name: Your Display
Name identifies you to other members and can be changed at any time.
Keep in mind; you will keep the forum username you originally registered
with as it cannot be changed. Changing display name has no effect on
username.
Location: If you wish to share or update your
location, do so here. This info will be provided in your profile as well
as your mini-profile attached to forum posts. This is an optional field
that can be left blank.
Web Site Name & URL: If you
have a website you'd like to share, type the name of your website in the
first box and the full URL in the next. For example, Diecast SpeedZone
would be the website name;
www.diecastspeedzone.boards.net would be the
URL. These fields are optional and can be left blank.
Most Recent Status: You can enter a message here to be seen on your Profile. For example, Chillin' on SpeedZone
Signature: Signatures
display beneath message board posts and can also be seen in member
profiles. BBCode can be used to customize your signature. For example,
[ center ] your text or image here [ /center ] this will center your text or image). Images can be inserted into
your signature using an image hosting service (Flickr, Photobucket, etc)
using the img code.
Personal Notes: You can add personal
notes for yourself in this area. Forum staff members can also add notes
for you but won't be able to read the notes you've written.
After you have successfully updated your information click on SAVE PERSONAL SETTINGS.
Social Tab
In this section you can add all your information for your social networks / Instant Messengers. This information is optional.
After you have successfully updated your information click on
SAVE SOCIAL SETTINGS.Settings TabIn
this section you can change your Forum preferences to your own personal
liking. Below are the Setting you will see in this area
Show Participate Displays the participated button next to the navigation tree under the DieCast SpeedZone banner.
Show Signatures Displays
member signatures with their posts. You can turn this option off if
you prefer not to see everyone's signatures while reading on the forum.
Forum Theme Displays the available theme of your choice
Enable Drafts Saves your posts periodically during creation.
Posting Default Sets
what editor you default to when creating posts. We recommend you change
to Visual so you do not have to view the codes while creating your
post. You can post images in visual by just inserting the img code, if
you click on bbcode and back to visual you will see your image and be
able to center it, make it smaller, etc.
Smiles Default Sets whether applicable plain text displays as smiles.
Display Group Select which group you want displayed in your profile.
Dates and Times Sets how you would prefer to see timestamps.
After you have successfully updated your information click on SAVE ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
Privacy Tab
In this section you will set your preferences on what is visible to other members.
After you have successfully updated your information click on SAVE PRIVACY SETTINGS.
Notification Tab
In this section you can select what you would like to be notified of and how you are notified.
After you have successfully updated your information click on SAVE NOTIFICATION SETTINGS.
