Masakazu Roy Nakamura -55, passed away peacefully with his wife, Irma, and daughters, Erin and Kelly, by his side on Monday, April 21, 2014. Born in Gardena to Shizuko and Masaharu Nakamura, Roy went on to graduate from Carson High and Cal State Dominguez Hills. He was committed to his work as an industrial engineer at Boeing for 28 years. Roy's life was filled with a love tangible to anyone he came into contact with. His generosity, kind heart, and humor brought endless laughter to the South Bay. A modest man, Roy reveled in the simple joys of life: his family, friends, diecast car collection, and relaxing in the backyard of his Lomita home on a breezy afternoon with his wife, daughters, and dog, Yuri. He is survived by his cherished wife, Irma Nakamura, aunt Sachiko Ishiwa, uncle George Nakamura, brother Masashi Don Nakamura, nephews Brad and Ross Nakamura, and his beloved daughters, Erin and Kelly Nakamura. His warm smile will be forever etched onto the hearts of all those who loved him. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Roy's favorite non-profits, Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches (A3M) in his honor. A celebration of life to be held on Saturday, May 17th from 1pm to 4pm at Ports O Call Restaurant, 1200 Nagoya Way, San Pedro, CA 90731. Hawaiian shirts encouraged. Please sign the guestbook.

A very sad day in the diecast community, a well loved man by many inside and out of the diecast community, always giving to others when asked... I never had the chance on meeting him face to face, but was hoping to meet up with him at one of the upcoming Conventions, Roy and I had many conversations back and forth on Joesdiecastshack chat site back in the day and that is where I feel we had a pretty good friendship built.... I always remembered seeing his posts on the Joe site in him helping others locate certain hard to find pieces with the Jada Toys when asked upon by collectors and always came through... He was always there to help out another collector, he had a heart of gold... I heard he also through an amazing BBQ with family and friends and wished someday I could be apart of it.... Roy, you will definitely be missed by us and those who knew you - R.I.P. my friend... Roy Nakamura Your legend will live on through our eyes... Liv N Low Dan

I have not had the pleasure of meeting, or chatting with Roy on the boards, however, I have read a lot of his posts, and have heard a lot of great things about Roy, No doubt the things I have heard and read, Roy was definitely a great person with a huge heart.
R.I.P Roy my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...

The one thing I will always remember about Roy is that he was very knowledgeable with diecast... When ever something came out as a sneak peek or when he had something in his hands before the item hit the retail stores, he was always willing to share with pictures and description about the items in hand, which was a huge bonus for many collectors like myself as a person would know if they would want it or not before dropping the funds.... I remember when Roy shared the JadaToys Chop Socky Chooks Cartoon lineup before they hit the retail and boy was he right, they were not the best lineup for Jada to take a chance on as these failed miserably...
From what I have gathered by the people I know who knew him, he has been ill for a few years before his passing... That is why we didn't see him on the boards that often... Seems all the legendary collectors are passing away at early ages....
Roy, I'll see ya on the other side my friend...
