*steps up to podium and taps on microphone* Excuse me. May I have your attention please? Thank you. At this time, I would like to extend a word of thanks to Dan (Liv) Bow Down for the invitation and Steve (squimb) Thumbs up for the nudge to act on Dan's invitation! This place sure is nice and shiny - smells good, too! - at least for now! :)
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mark and I hail from the currently snow-buried state of Connecticut. I came back to the hobby of diecast back in the late 80's when a good friend of ours gave me a Racing Champions "Sears Set" for Christmas. This was a set of 12 NASCAR stock cars that came with individual stands and drivers trading cards along with a filler can of "racing fuel". That gift re-ignited my passion for diecast. I focused on collecting NASCAR stuff for a long time, and since I became a Mark Martin fan in 1988 (when he returned to Winston Cup full time) you better believe I have boatloads of Mark Martin diecast and other "stuff"! As time moved on, I became increasingly interested in non racing diecast. Enter: Johnny Lightning!
Originally, my interest in diecast began in my childhood during the sixties (the best era for toys, by the way! Thumbs up). It was then that I was introduced to Lesney Matchboxes. It was love at first sight! Playing I did have a dozen or so Hot Wheels redlines, but they didn't "do it" for me like my beloved Matchboxes. That explains why I was drawn to Johnny Lightning (from 2005) - because of their realism. When GreenLight came on the scene and soon came out with their 1965 Dodge Coronet, I flipped!!! The '65 Coronet has sentimental meaning to me as a 1965 Dodge Coronet 440 station wagon was my Dad's first brand new car. (now you know the connection) Now. I'm waiting for GreenLight to do a '65 Coronet wagon, of course! And then Castline breaks onto the scene with the M2 Machines. Works of art. Jewels. Masterpieces!
Looking forward to sharing the hobby with the rest of you diecast junkies! Now, where did you say the bar was? IDK

IDK Pssssssst Mark the bar is in the back, there is a secret password and knock. we need to initiate you first before you can enter the bar, and in order to do that you need to tell me what Squimb (Steve) is looking for or needs for his collection. :) Welcome to the Board Mark, hopefully this will be a nice relaxing place to come and talk to our friends, share our collections and what we may have found out in the wild, without all the drama. With that all said lets get this party started... food-and-drink010_2

I was beginning to wonder what it was going to take to get served around here! But now I suppose you're going to expect a tip!
But I'm a generous guy so here goes - Buy low, sell high, and don't collect anything diecast!

I agree Duncan we need to get this party going. Any suggestions? I thought maybe a pole in the middle of the bar but I was not sure that would go over well. someone could get hurt. lol

LMAO Ummm, I don't think I'll touch this subject with a 10 foot pole. And to think my last name is POHL (pronounced as - you guessed it - pole). But I'm slightly under 6', anyway.

Are you going to tell me you became a clutz after you became married, or are you telling me your wife will hurt you? LMAO This bar is like Vegas, what happens in the bar stays in the bar... :) Duncan if we have to get an 11 foot pole for you to touch it we can make that happen.... LMAO
