The wife and I picked up a new laptop a couple months back with the all new and improved Windows 8. Bang Head
I just keep shutting itself down (randomly) or it crashes. AND, It's getting worse! I was chatting via PM with Shell last night and every time I tried to reply I would get half way through the message and BAM.........big blue screen and then it restarts itself. Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head On the last time I replied to her I had typed and retyped the same message 5 times then finally I just typed out a short message and sent it before I lost it again. I contacted HP support and it is a Windows 8 problem and until they have a fix I need to do a system restore on my computer and lose everything I have on it. Bang Head Surrender
So if you're thinking of getting Windows 8 DON"T! Frustrated

It is me Steve I am cursed... lol Seriously tho I was helping someone with their Windows 8 and I hated it... My hard drive crashed in Jan. and I refused to go get another pc I opted to go the cheaper route as we... Go to Staples and have them install a new Hard Drive.. Only cost $250. And I am a happy camper right now... :)

I bought a new laptop for my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago and I love it. And she has gotten the hang of it with no major issues.

I guess there have been a lot of issues with windows crashing. And that's what is happening to me now. I know it has something to do with windows updates, from what I've been reading on MS website.

I have been reading a little bit on windows 8 myself and my biggest thing I do not like about it is how it starts up in the app mode, but now that I know you can switch it over to boot up on the desktop mode I may consider getting one if my laptop takes a pooooooooooo but hopefully that wont be for awhile and all the glitches will be worked out of Windows 8 by then.

I seemed to have traced my problem to Firefox. First the computer kept crashing then Firefox started crashing. I removed Firefox and reloaded it but still the same problem. I found nothing crashed when I used Explorer. I do not like Explorer though. Right now I'm trying out Google Chrome with out any crashing problems EXCEPT if I use Chrome in Windows 8 mode, that causes it to crash, so back to reg mode with no problems. Google Chrome is Ok. I like Firefox more, but that's life.

Steve, you may want to check this out Firefox Metro Preview I am not sure when it will be completed but you will eventually get your firefox back.. I for one use Firefox and love it over IE... |

It's not all bad....take a bit of getting used to. Guns Steve, when and if you get your Firefox to work with windows 8 you should get the Adblocker add-on. I love it, I see no more Ad's in this forum, when I upload pictures to photobucket, I don't get that video, it takes all the ads away from the websites... Of course you can get it for IE too, but you will have to go to the adblocker website. I am not sure if it works with IE10 (only because i do not have windows 8 and IE10)... |
