A little story behind my discovery - yesterday I was at our local Walmart with my wife and daughter whle they did some shopping so naturally I went to check out the diecast selection. Mostly, just to see what they had in Hot Wheels and Matchbox since it quit carrying Johnny Lightning and M2s after the last reset, and was never good about stocking M2s before that, anyway. But the HW pegs were pretty bare and the MB pegs were stuffed but mostly just the same half dozen or so selection, none of which interested me so I left empty-handed. This morning, when I went to start my car, the battery was dead, so since Walmart was the closest and cheapest I went there to get a replacement. While they were installing the new battery I decided to go ahead and check the diecast again - who knows, maybe they got some more HWs in stock, but nope, the pegs were just as bare as they had been the day before. But then, I suddenly noticed on one of the lower shelves a new stock of M2 Auto-Haulers! And a couple space over from there was some new stock of the M2 Auto-Thentics - this time consisting of the latest M2 Aut-Trucks with several of the black and blue Apaches, which I particularly like, and several of the 51 Studebaker pickups with the STR flame logo, and over another couple of spaces were some Auto-Drivers! I could not believe it! Not even a reset and all of this M2 stock had suddenly appeared overnight! And, wouldn't you know it, with me having to buy an expensive battery, I had no spare money to buy anything! So, reluctantly, I walked away, but then I decided I just HAD to buy at least one, I would just have to sacrifice some of my lunch money, so I headed back, deciding I would buy one of the black and blue Apaches that was such a great color combo. But as I reached for one of them I suddenly realized that right in front of it I was staring at a chase version of the 51 Stude! Now I was in a stage of shock - I have NEVER found a single M2 chase in the wild before, and now here my local Walmart had not started carrying M2s again, but there was even a chase in all of this fresh stock! Needless to say, there was a really quick change in plans and I left with that chase Stude! And it is a beauty!
