Today was our monthly meeting for our Hot Wheels Club and it was a pretty good day. No Johnnys on the tables which kept me from spending too much money....LOL It has been awhile since I was able to attend the meeting and luckily my wife agreed to hire a babysitter for Baby Nick. So, me and Jacob wasted no time to getting there this morning. In fact, we were alittle early.....LOL I will show my gets first and then I will show Jacob's haul.
A couple of HWs stock cars for wheel donors or not. I have not decided yet. They are after all Pontiacs and it is hard for me to rip the wheels off of them.
A really hard to find Nissan Skyline and I got it for cheap, cheap compared to ebay and I won a Custom (custom) Cadillac in red, white and blue as a door prize.
Finally the regular TH Challenger Drift car and a replacement Buick Riviera for my collection. I gave one to a member at the club last year because he needed it for a custom and I was waiting patiently for another to come my way. I have another Drift Car Challenger on its way from a trade with 5thGenCamaro which one of them is going to get a wheel swap in the future.
A couple of Boulevard cars that I have been wanting to get. I really like the Boulevard series and I am hating they are cancelling them but I guess I can't miss them too much because they don't exist in the stores around here much anyways.
I another bargain buy that I was very excited to get. It was still hanging around on the sellers table at close to the end of the meeting and he did not want to take it home. I do some of my best buys at towards the end of the meeting. ;)
Some more good buys of the Non Hot Wheels variety.
The Enterprise is from the club and it is replacing the one Jacob broke. It was an accident and since I have another one. Its all good and the Lost in Space Jupiter was found at the indoor Flea Market that me and Jacob visits ever once in awhile.
Now to Jacob's haul and he did good as normal especially since I am paying for it ......LOL The yellow Mustang and the red conv. VW bug was freebies from a couple of members at the club and he found a Peter Parker/Spiderman Pontiac on the tables. I think that was a chase car but not very sure but Jacob is happy with it.
This is what he won for the door prize. Not really his taste but he is always thankful of what he gets and that is the most important lesson.
Here lately he has been on a Superman kick since he saw the Man of Steel and these had to go home with him.
He got this one free at the indoor flea market close to the house. The older lady that runs the only Hot Wheels or diecast shop for that matter is a little sweet on Jacob. I wish I had that boyish smile again.....LOL
Here is something very unique. This was given to Jacob but there is a story behind this one. We had a red, white and blue custom contest today at the meeting. They always have the same contest each year for the July meeting for honoring the 4th of July. Well this one was an entry in the amateur class of the contest. Jacob saw it and immediately fell in love with it. He could not or would not understand that it was on the table to be judged for the contest and it was not for sale. Of course being a 5 year old with his mother's hard head and my tenacity is not a good combination.....LOL I finally convinced him that we would have to wait until after the custom contest was over and I will speak to the person that made the custom.
Well, the custom won in its class and the owner was a newcomer to the club. I figured he would not want to sell it because it was his first custom and it won. I was very hesitant to ask him if he was willing to sell his prize winning custom but I made a promise that I would ask after the contest was over and Jacob made sure I kept my promise....LOL
I walked up to him( I believe his name was John) and I asked him if he was willing to sell it to me. He was of course alittle shocked that anybody wanted his custom and asked "You really want that custom?" in a disbelief tone. I told him it was not for me but for that little boy sitting over there and I pointed to Jacob. He saw Jacob's face looking at us very urgently and turned to me and said "He can have it for free" and he handed me the custom to give to Jacob. I thanked him at least a dozen of times before leaving his table and of course, Jacob was very excited and he wanted to open it because John had already sealed it back onto the blister that it originally came in and it was sitting in a protector pack. I told him he had to wait until we got home because the meeting was almost over. I know Jacob had to look in that bag of ours half dozen times before we got home. Well without further delay here is Jacob's proud get at the club.
