I will more than likely be getting the KISS castings. You would think that they would look for some kind of British casting for The Who to make it look intersting.

I am sure that the Custom Convoy is going to be a tough one to find in the wild

I'm not a particular fan of any of these bands, but I like the two Who vehicles just for the livery alone. Not that I would buy them, but I like 'em. The other decos and casting choices seem pretty uninspired.
I understand what Steve means by this pop culture subject being beaten to death though. You slap the logo of any popular thing onto a car and somebody is going to guy it, which I'm sure tickles Mattel to pieces. But that alone doesn't make great diecast.

Heck. I'm already growing tired of the Retro series. I think (if I see it) I'll grab the Convoy as trade bait, but that's it.

I would like to see Mattel bring back the adult line again like they did with the Jewel Case Box Sets, Oil Cans & 100% Cars....

If any of these castings from the Pop Culture line up were available a lot easier than they are, then I would be tired of them. But because they hit the pegs on such an irregular basis they get snapped up so fast it isn't funny, even if they are not popular castings. The latest Batman series was put out (not a set that I like) and it took only a day and they were gone.

I would like to see Mattel bring back the adult line again like they did with the Jewel Case Box Sets, Oil Cans & 100% Cars.... Sometimes I wonder if the days of Mattel putting out lines like that are gone for good. It's one thing to issue premium versions of regular Hot Wheels, but the 100%'s and Oil Cans were on another level. Anyway, I hope they still have the tooling. A reissue of the 100%'s, now that should be the next "vintage" series.

A reissue of the 100%'s, now that should be the next "vintage" series. Mattel brought back the 100% line back in 2008, but like a lot of the lines they have produced, distribution was an issuse, or the stock was never replaced plus a lot of places never carried them. The three I have were bought on clearance. But if they did do the 100% line or the Oil Cans, the cost would be a big issue. Even with cost cutting, plexi and rubber are expensive so they would have to pass on the cost to the consumer. That would lead to the next question-how much would you pay for them?

I don't recall them ever being cheap though. I remember seeing them at KMart in 2007-08, and a single car, or 2-car set in cube was going for the princely sum of $8-10. The cubes and elaborate packaging could be cut out to reduce cost. If they brought back the 100% line, I'm sure a toy manufacturing juggernaut like Mattel could to it at a price point competitive to anything else in the 1:64 category if they wanted to. Little M2/Castline does it consistently at about $6 each. And Auto World looks to have a world beater lineup for $3-7. So I think the main question to consider would be, how much of a profit margin would Mattel insist upon?
