I've been looking forward to this series since Mattel mentioned it some time ago. Mattel said the series would be out starting June 1st at the big 4 retailers. I wonder if anyone forgot to tell Mattel that Target doesn't sell any premium Hot Wheels any more. I just hope the distribution of it is even so we don't see the first mix sit on the pegs like the Flying Custom series is.

Anything with hard plastic wheels is no replacement. But beyond that, they look alright in a Hot Wheels Classics sort of way.

I guess I must be totally in the minority regarding rubber wheels. To me it doesn't matter if it has them or not. A turd with rubber wheels is still a turd-see Hot Tub from the Boulevard Series.

Well, I don't have anything against hard plastic tires either but replacing a series with them from rubber tires seems alittle drastic of a move for Mattel. Besides I have seen turds with hard plastic tires too. Its really a matter of preference for the individual. Most collectors, not all, rather have rubber tires for the premium lines. I for one love seeing the old black walls on the Hot Ones and Flying Color series. I just wished Mattel would use better castings for the majority of the line up than the ones that are being used right now.

Sorry guys, maybe for me its about realism than something of my time that means most which I feel they don't come close to..again this is just my opinion!!!... :Air quotes: each their own..but for me its about the real thing... :Thumbs up:.....after 1996, I've seen things in diecast cars that I only apply on plastic Model Cars. ..to see it done on Diecast cars...Hot Wheels to me better jump out from the 60's set ups and get real with the 21st century for the baby boomers... :Thumbs up: ...Am a former car builder, Drag Racers, Asst Mgr to Strauss and Baychester Autos, and Collector of Plastic and Diecast...So for me plastic Chassic, tires, and unflink cars goes last to me...So rubber tires makes it real and plastic tires for only down hill racing...Just my opinion guys?... :Big Grin:

I once heard that a dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Back on subject; I think that the way it looks (to me) is that Mattel is spending the money on the paint and finnish of the new line. Plus they are using new wheels for this line as well. I don't know if the wheels will be used on any other castings but I think this line will be as popular as the original Classics...provided distibution doesn't kill it like it did the Flying Customs.

I hate to do it to another collectors store but if it gets new stuff in my area great. But my luck I would buy them all up and they would have 5 cases sitting in the back waiting to be pegged up.

The Flying Customs never moved in my part of the world. The local Wal-Mart and K-Mart got the first mix in and they have sat on the pegs since. If "new" stock came in, it was the same A mix. And from what I've seen in many places, it was the same way.

And from what I've seen in many places, it was the same way. Yep same in my area... I wish there is some way we can get them out of the store and stop taking up peg space. I am sure we will see them in the Discount stores like Big Lots, and Ollies. Sad part is Ollies marks them at retail so how much of a Discount are you getting you hide the stuff until after xmas and get it when they have 70% off toys. The one day I went into Ollies (I believe after Easter) and they had a Huge sign, up to 70% off Toys... Then there is the very small print that said up to 70% off of their price (something along those lines) Well needless to say, when the lady at the register said to me no that sign means we are up to 70% off of Retail price meaning, if Walmart has an item for $4.99 we are selling that similar item for up to 70% off which could make that item $1.50. I raised my eyebrow and said REALLY, well I hate to tell you but These harley davidsons I have in my cart right now @ walmart are less then what you have them marked for, then I said do you see all those Maisto bikes in my Cart, They are marked the same price as walmart, then I asked where is the up to 70% off, and she stumbled with her words and gave me some BS, so I turned and looked at my daughter and I pushed the cart to the end of the register and said You can keep them now because I don't want them. They still have some here and there in the store, and even 1 or 2 - 1 Badd Rides All that Rambling is I will see those in our Ollies for the same price ... :Thumbs Down:

Flying Customs are jammed full in my area as well, sitting collecting dust ... I can see these sitting for a very very very very long time priced at $2.97ea for a Mainline Car.... Heck even the $1.97 HW Cars sit on the pegs as no one is biting on the price that Mattel thinks they are worth.... $2.97 is a lot of dough for a Mainline and the Retros are showing that they too will be peg warmers soon as TRU and many of my Walmarts have pegs jammed full of them warming the pegs. :IDK:Once they go on clearance I will buy them for their wheels like I did with the Blvds... :Big Grin:

Heck, I'd pay $2.97 if the stock was new. There are some castings that are pretty nice that I'll never see until they go to the close out stores. You know this series is doomed when the local drug store has a newer selection of these than the big box stores.

I'm sure most of you might already have seen this on HWC or Hobby Talk but I read that this series is going to be out on August 1st.

No big loss because the toy section is only 2 shelves in the back of the store and not too much diecast hits over there.
