Now that is funny Shell :ROTFLMAO:..... I will have to say " No " Shell about the pants thing as I remember wearing 701 Levi's as I couldn't fit in 501's because the butt was too baggy for my small butt... Oooops too much Info :Whistling: I remember wearing Toughskins back in the day Steve... I think my folks bought them from a store called Benos and when I wore holes in my knees my mother would iron on patches... That was the hip thing to do in the 70s to have patches and stripe shirts that matched our knee high socks.... Corduroy pants were the in thing too as I had a bunch of those that had patches on em too... OMFG... I am old ... Thanks Shell.... I now need theropy ' oh:

I am Sorry Dan, I wore wranglers or whatever we could get at the Jean King, and we were only allowed to get the knock off Nike Sneakers. I picture Dan being a Shaun Cassidy in school, now I am really curious Dan, do you have a tight little butt like a girl? And Dan don't worry about feeling old Steve and I are only a year behind you and I know for a fact my memory is worse then yours... I can't speak for Steve... Oh and BTW Redwings need to start playing the game...

That is the truth about the pants at their knees. I have been tempted when I go into a business and they are doing that to tell them either pull up their pants or I will take my business elsewhere. I read on line a while back that one place was making it against the law to wear the pants that way. I wish Vegas would follow suit.

There is a chain of car washes back in my home state of Indiana by the name of Mike's Carwash, and they pride themselves on a high level of customer service and a squeaky clean image - pun intended? I recall years ago, a man wouldn't be eligible for employment there if he had visible piercings, tattoos, or long hair. Even facial hair and sideburns had to be just so. I imagine today it's the same way... and saggy pants? Mike ain't having that!!

Does anybody remember the parachute pants????? And if so did you have a pair, I will be the first to admit that I did. I remember them back in 1982-83 as I was back East Coast at that time visiting my family that I never met.... I was talked into getting them ( yes talked into getting them pants as I thought they looked stupid from the gitgo ) by my family that thought they were the coolest thing to own so my folks bought me 3 pairs.... Well, when I got back home from our vacation, I wore them to School on the first day - High School that is and I will say this, I had to go to my locker and get a pair of shorts before 2rd period and change as everyone looked at me like I was a freakin freak from the streets.... I felt stupid wearing them in the first place and trust me these pants found the nearest trash can the next day.... I went back to wearing my shorts and Quicksilver surfing clothes.... Turned out that Parachute pants were for break dancers and I was far from being a freakin break dancer.... I learned a lesson that summer and that lesson was to never listen to family who have never been or seen how kids dress near the beach.... Damn Pa. family

Ummmm This is where you and I will disagree Dan... It had nothing to do with the people in PA it just had to do with your family because ummm I live in PA and quite honestly the people in my area thought those pants were stupid and NOBODY wore them. Quite honestly I think your family just wanted you to go back to cali lookin like a freak and you did... :ROTFLMAO:

And the women in the area we lived in thought they were hot.

Liv and Diablo, I've seen both of you guys in pictures, and I have to say neither of you look like the parachute pant types. Not that you ever were, but that somebody got you to wear them. And Liv, that's hilarious that your folks insisted on buying you three pairs! But how dare the other kids look at you funny, I thought CA was the land of trend setters!
Maybe there was a revival, but I remember the parachute pants from the later-80's and early-90's, when MC Hammer was huge, dancing around in gold diaper pants in the U Can't Touch This video. I played my fashion pretty straight all through school, strictly the essentials, so I never had the parachute pants. Not that they didn't have their appeal, but I can't say I regret it.

Never had parachute pants myself, but I did have jams. Anybody remember those?? They were bright colored pajama type pants. I only wore them for one summer. My mother could never believe I was wearing them out in public, but hey it was :Air quotes: the thing to wear :Air quotes: at the time. Other then that I was always in ripped jeans and a rock t-shirt with my dangling handcuff earring. That's what you get when you hang out with the burnouts. :Whistling:

I know Stussy did as I had many pairs with neon paint brush marks on the pants for designs...

Yup....the neon brush strokes that's what I had. Shell the Hammer pants were really poofy and the crotch hung down to your knees and more "flashy". These were bright and not as poofy. BTW stoners - burn outs no difference really. Sounds like you and I would have been good friends back then............if I could remember it. Going with the ripped jeans and rock tee thing. Don't forget to add the jean jacket with the collar up and basketball sneaks with the tongue hanging out. :Oh go on: Oh and bandannas you had to have bandannas tied to your wrist and/or leg :ROTFLMAO: Anybody have the roach clip with feathers hanging from the rear view for "decoration" Ok, I'm having to much fun with this topic.

Wow, talk about stepping back into time... I too remember winning them mirrors at the fair, same with the 4ft yellow banana that all the girls went bananas over to have one... Feather on a roach clip - yepp - had a few for deco and other purposes " wink wink "... :Big Grin: I also got into the spikes and studs things back in the 80s... Who had a studded leather wrist band or 2 snap leather wallet with a chain attached to it or a leather jacket that was all studded with chains hanging off of it with patches pinned to it ??? Oh don't leave me in the dark with this one guys and gals as I know all you stoners had leather jackets too, mine were more punk rock/metal hair day attire... lol ... Can we have those days back again as they were alot of fun back then... :Thumbs up:
