I figured I was due. Lots of people are finding the AW cars.......except me!! Quick!! Call the WAHMBULANCE!! This morning, after dropping a friend off for an appointment, I decided to go on a hunting expedition. My first stop was a Walmart (not the one closest to me). Like most, this one is going through a reset. Among the HW I saw 2 AW cars hanging ---- the red Camaro and..............wait for it.........a 1967 Corvette 427.........in.....RED!!! SCORE!!! Of course, it didn't ring up at the register so I told the cashier that I thought it was $2.97. He looked on the back and said, "No, it's marked $2.17". Sure enough, there was a price sticker. Along with that, they also had the M2 Wild Cards '55 Chevys - I grabbed a black one (no chases). This was a great start. Next ---- Target. Haven't stepped foot in one in a long time. But since the AW cars are supposed to be distributed in most of the big box stores, I figured I'd give it a shot. Nope. No AW. But I did pick up 4 MB - 2 Double Decker buses, the F-450 fire truck, and that VW Ghia. Next stop, TRU. I came armed with my 15% off everything coupon. I was hoping to find the GL MotorWorld Wildfire set - no luck. There was an employee on a ladder putting up a HW endcap display. I was looking at some of the HW and she said she would move. I told her she could finish what she was doing. Then she said, "There's a case on the floor if you want to look through them"!! *music to my ears!!* I opened the sealed case, but before looking through, I offered to hang them and the girl said that wasn't necessary. From the case I pulled the TH Fiesta, a Mooneyes Chevelle wagon, a few USS Enterprises, a couple of "Summit" Camaros (metal base). The employee finished setting up the endcap display so I went through the 3 trays on the shelves. Not being a real HW expert, I called my old pal, Pierre (aka - NYSWLHUNTER) for some advice. He asked me to look for the STH Toyota Tundra. Of course, I was finding a bunch of regulars (non TH) and he described as being red metalflake with "TH" on the rear quarter panel and rubber tires. I hung up and continued my search. Lo and behold --- PAYDIRT! Found the Super! I also found another TH Fiesta, too. Among a couple of others, I ended up with 10 Enterprises. I'll hand those out to whoever wants one at my Gathering in October. I haven't had a score like that in a very, very long time. Now, I had made plans to meet my cousin for lunch. I was already late but I figured I'd run in real quick at the WM clsest to my house. They had both AW Camaros (red & blue) and both '67 Corvettes (black & yellow). I liked the looks of the black one (with the stinger painted red) so it came home with me. Wednesday & Thursday I have some business to attend to so you can bet I'll be doing more hunting! Happy trails!!!
